Lucy, The Eternity Crack Scarlett Johansson, plays a young American studying in Taiwan who gets kidnapped by gangsters. They surgically implant a parcel of super-drugs inside her and force her into being a mule for them. But after the package bursts inside her, Lucy’s brain capacity increases feverishly, ending her with mental and physical abilities far beyond mere mortals. She then goes on a bloody quest for answers and retribution.

The film’s most effective moments are front-loaded: Lucy The Eternity, her drug mule plight, sudden development of powers, and her first acts of superhuman ability.

Lucy’s quest causes her to cross paths with an honest narc (the cool Amr Waked), who becomes her astonished ally during the latter half of the film. It’s not until Lucy (the character and the film) passes the 60% mark that things spiral out of control. Her powers grow increasingly ludicrous and god-like, hardly making the stock gangsters chasing her — led by crime boss Kang (Oldboy’s Choi Min-sik) — worthy or intimidating adversaries. Waked’s cop and Min-sik’s gangster are ultimately reduced to shoot ’em-up filler.

Unique Features:

• Excellent voice performance and character design.
• The fact that this visual novel was created in Korea genuinely astonished me.
• Normally, every visual novel outside Japan has a distinctive graphical style, but Lucy perfectly perfects it.
• Only a few character designs are included in the game, but they are all well done, with excellent color selections and a general aesthetic that nicely fits the game’s scenario.
• This is particularly true of the robot heroine, whose voice acting is also rather good.
• Even the voice acting may switch between Korean and Japanese.
• The question of what defines a person will come up in this novel since it largely relies on the “android vs. human” theme.

• Poor overall writing quality.
• Noted, Lucy’s lack of strong writing is the book’s biggest flaw.
